What's New!!

Hello!

scroll down to see what is happening this year!

January 2008

It's now been one year since the start of our Kitchen project.

Click here for our complete Kitchen project.

February 2008

I've adjusted quite well to cooking in our family room.
But I feel so cluttered and squishy!

Shaida is still able to cook her frozen pizzas so she's happy!
Poor Cookie - doesn't he look like he is so hungry!!!

We are all so busy and with the girls working all night (at Fed Ex) and going to school all day,
we didn't have much time to celebrate Shaida's birthday!!

Wasn't Oreo's present to Shaida so clever???

Shireen is so busy with gymnastics and school.
It was so neat being able to watch her at the Boulton Valentine dance!

I can't believe she's in sixth grade and 12 years old!!!

Easter 2008

It is our first Easter together as a family for 2 years!
We don't have a kitchen so we improvised and used Shireen's mat
and the girls colored lots of beautiful eggs along with Shireen's friend Niki.

Shaida started with a simple egg!

And she carefully chose the perfect color for it!!

Wow are they turning out beautiful!!

Shireen went for the "colored wax" method.

I was hoping our house wouldn't be burned down!!

Sheila was really daring and tried the dye in a bag method!

She swished the egg around in her chosen colors.

Well, I don't know if that's the prettiest method but it's really unique!!

It wouldn't be Easter without making our Easter cookies!
No rolling out dough this year! Without a kitchen we have store bought ones!
But they are still fun to frost and decorate!

Beautiful Sheila!

So creative Shaida. What do we shoot them with?

Sweet Shireen!

Really cute Niki!!

Aren't Shireen and Niki beautiful?
They are heading to church on Easter Sunday.

April 2008

Our kitchen's really coming along!!!!!!!

Summer 2008

Happy Birthday Sheila!

We had our first party in our new kitchen for Sheila's Birthday.
It is always fun having friends Brittany and Becky over!

Shaida helped light the candles on the Cold Stone Ice Cream Cake (yum!)

Make a wish Sheila!!

Then it was time to head up on the roof for a great view at all the fireworks
for Sheila's Birthday on the Forth of July!!

They all had fun playing games later on.

The next day we had a fun little trip to Lava Hot Springs.
Sheila and Shaida were really excited to go since they haven't been there for years.
They took their two good friends Brittany and Becky.
Shireen came too but she didn't have too good of a time because she was sick with a fever!

Sheila and Shaida were up on the top platform ready to jump off!

That platform is really high!!!

There's the proof that they jumped off!!!

We only were there for the day so after swimming it was off to the river!
Shaida, Sheila and Becky started off at the top where there are lots of rapids.

Sheila got stuck right after the bridge and almost fell over!

Shaida got stuck at the same spot but they both managed to not tip over!!
I've fallen over at that spot several times in my life and scraped up my shin!

Brittany joined them after the bridge for the slower part.

They made it back to camp (where my Aunt Sharon and Uncle DeVon is staying)

They are really having a fun day together!
Poor Shireen was really bummed that she couldn't go down the river or swim!

But Shireen got to go shopping with us and of course we have to have our traditional Pizza.
They have the best salad dressing - Brittany and Becky both really liked it too!

After dinner, it was time to go back home for the 2 1/2 hr. drive.

The next day was Shireen's camp at Utah State University in Logan.
She ended out being sick all week with a fever and a cough.
We took a trip to the emergency room the first night to see if she could stay at the camp or should go home.
They said her fever was a virus just like a cold.
They said she could stay but she had to take a lot of Advil and Tylenol to keep the fever under control.

She did ok at the camp and did have some fun but not as much as if she wasn't sick!

Natasha was her "mom" up there and kept checking her all week.
Shireen coudn't swim but she did some of the activities.

Dave (the man spotting Shireen) was very good and helpful.
Another coach Brad helped Shireen figure out how to twist better on her 2 1/2.
Now at the gym Shireen is doing her 2 1/2 full much better
and she is working on her triple full on the tumble track!!

Another fun thing at the camp was meeting Kristina Baskett from the U of U Gymnastics team.

On July 27, Shireen and I were off to Colorado Springs for another Gym Camp!
This was a very special camp for us because we mostly went to see Shireen's old coach Katia!
Natasha was Katia's coach and now they are very good friends.
Shireen, McKenna and Sydney were so excited to see Katia and her family!!
They moved there so Alex can help coach men gymnasts at the Olympic Training Center.

The first thing we did when we got there was to go see the Garden of the Gods !
This is called the Balencing Rock. It reminded us of St. George with all the red rock formations.

The next morning we were off to the camp.
The parents were so impressed with the gym. The equipment looked so great and it's layout was nice!
We were excited for a week of good training.

It wasn't all work though, we were able to visit the Olympic Training Center where Alex works.

With the Olympics only a week away, we were excited to buy some Olympic souvenirs in the shop.

They have some really neat Olympic statues and things around the area.
We (of course) found the gymnast one!

After practice another day, they had a water fight. It was fun but they were pretty cold after.

As the week went on, Shireen and McKenna were getting pretty tired!

But we still had more to do!
On Thursday night, they had a picnic with the families at a fun park.
Shireen and Brittany had lots of fun playing with Katia's baby Christina.

After the picnic they went to the swimming pool.
Shireen liked the wave pool and they all liked playing with Christina!

Shireen really loved Christina. I was so surprised how much she liked being with her!

Friday it was back to the gym for their last workout.
It was a really great week and we flew home Friday night!!
