It is a long long process but we are working on remodeling our
kitchen!

I don't have many pictures of our old kitchen. Here is one
during our Gingerbread project. Shaida was the leader as
we all worked together to make "It's A Small World".
Here is our old kitchen at its most wonderful, messy, and greatest.
We had lots
of room on our old snackbar. The worst things about it was having to walk all
the way around the snackbar to get to the family room. I also didn't like the
beam in the middle of the snackbar.
I finally thought to take some pictures of Ahmad's favorite
part of this project - demolition!!
He started with the linolium and quickly started ripping out the floor.
I thrilled at the wood on top of our old staircase that I've hated these past 10 yrs!

It wasn't very easy. I was cleaning out drawers and cupboards while he was ripping!
It was so weird when he started taking apart our cabinets and counter.
No more cabinets or counters!! We have a big hole so we have
boards to help walk
over them. We are working on the electricity and water.
No cabinets, counters, sink, dishwasher or floor!!
The next thing to go (I hope) is the beam in the middle of the kitchen!!

If you notice the date, things were on hold for quite awhile.
Ahmad had several
really big jobs that lasted for months from Spring throughout the summer and
fall!
But finally our beam in the center of the room is going down!
Here is our pathway to the family room. It's really been nice
to have a straight shot
instead of going all the way around the snackbar!! Our new windows are sitting
there at the back waiting to go in too!
Our center beam is gone but Ahmad had to build a wall to hold
up the house
until the top beam is put in place and the two side beams put up to hold it
all.
Here is our new side beam and top beam to take the place of the middle one!!
Now we have new windows, ceiling lights, and the start of our new island/bar!!
Here is our beautiful tile floor going in. The small tiles are
granite tiles
the same as our granite countertop. "Ubatuba" is the name of the granite
color.
It's looking really good!
Here is our "balance beam" pathway that we had to
use as we
waited for the tile floor to dry.
We are really happy with the results of our chosen pattern and colors!!!
Here's some of the cabinets! We are missing some pieces but they will be coming soon!
Finally our new kitchen is coming together! It took a few weeks
but we
now have our appliances in and almost all working.
Our sink is in and our granite
is almost done. There is a few things left for him to do but it's looking great!!
Here is our first batch of dishes being washed!!
It's so exciting!!
Our refrigerator is up and working but the stove doesn't have
power.
We need to call and get the electrician back.
But the microwave works good!!
We still have some more to do but things are really coming together!!

Walk in a little further and you can see our small TV room.
Ahmad chose our lovely Entertainment center and I love it!
The room is a bit small but it works ok for our family.
We made a long bench seating and we have a table by our windows.
I decided at the last minute to add the Bakers Rack that fits so well on the wall.
Here is a view from the TV room. We now have a computer on the end wall
It has a desk and file drawers for our mail and business things.
I love our Frigidaire appliances. They still get marks and handprints on the stainless steel
but they aren't too bad. I'm glad they have the coating - it was a great choice!
I love our granite!! It was a great choice and I love it more every day!!!
