This is our scrapbook for 2009!

January 1, 2009!!

Happy New Year!
We went bowling with the Heuns and then came back home for the big moment!!

The girls (and Becky) are getting ready for lots of fun!
I am waiting for the moment when I can finally go to bed!!

Even Cookie is ready for a great New Year!!

February 1, 2009

We got to go to Anaheim for one of Shireen's gymnastic meets.
Shireen was so excited to have her Uncle Massoud, Aunt Minou,
and her cousins Eleena and Camillia watch her compete!

Shaida decided to come but we had to leave Sheila home because of school and to take care of Cookie.
But Shaida still brought her homework to do while waiting during the long meet!

Here is Shireen starting her floor routine.
She had a pretty good meet and we were happy that she did well!

We got one last picture of the cousins together after the meet.
We went to dinner afterwards to a yummy Persian restaurant!

Thanks to Shaida, we had a great time the next day in Disneyland!
Our friend Anthony joined us for part of the day.

We had a very nice day and didn't want to return to a WINTERY UTAH!!

March 21, 2009

Happy Persian New Year!
We went up to the University of Utah for our annual Persian Music Concert.
This is the "Haft Sin" which stands for "seven S's"
It is a traditional table that is made up every New Year (which is the first day of Spring!)

April 11 and 12, 2009

Happy Easter!
We invited our good friend Niki to join us to color eggs and more!!
I got two Easter gingerbread houses and challenged the girls who could make the best one!

Shireen and Niki were making one and Sheila and Shaida were making the other one.

Which one do you like the best????

Now it's time for the eggs!

And finally we decorated cookies!
It was so nice having plenty of room in my new kitchen! I loved every moment of it!!!

Here are a few samples of the yummy final products!

Easter morning was fun looking for Easter Eggs all over our new kitchen!!
We found most of them but that bunny hid them really hard this year!!!

May 6-10, 2009

Here we are off to Tulsa, Oklahoma!
Shireen made it to Level 9 Western Nationals this year and Grandma and Ahmad joined us.

Shireen had to practice the next morning after we got to Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
It's about an hour North of Tulsa.
They were competing at the ConocoPhillips arena.
Frank Phillips who founded Phillips 66 lived in this town.

That night we got to go to a Bar-B-Q at a Wildlife Preserve and Lake.
It was very beautiful!

Shireen really liked the buffalo there.

The Bar-B-Q meat was pretty good but I think Ahmad didn't get full.

Grandma had a fun time and we all wore our cowboy hats!

Shireen and the girls had lots of fun dancing, playing, and getting balloon hats.

Happy Birthday Grandma! She was very happy to be watching her granddaughter compete on her birthday.

Ahmad was our video person which was so nice so I could actually watch the meet!!

Shireen did a very good job on all 4 events.
She placed 7th with her beam routine.

We had to take a picture of the most prominent gas station in the area!

We decided to drive down to Tulsa the next day after the meet.
We took the old "Route 66" hoping to see something.
We did find an old antique store but there wasn't much but farmland down the route.

Shireen had to take the picture of the Oklahoma "road kill".
You don't see Armadillos in Utah!!

It was a great trip and a wonderful experience!!

June 20, 2009

We went to our friend's "fancy" wedding at the Grand America Hotel. It was so nice seeing old friends!

The girls danced up a storm!!

July 4, 2009

Happy Birthday Sheila! We had a rootin-tootin fun time on her birthday. We started with
a swell dinner and each person got a fun utinsel to eat with - No Forks or Spoons!

Shaida got tonges, Sheila got a potato masher, Shireen got a ladel and Brittany got a whisk!!

Cookie really looked great with his cowboy hat!

The next fun activity was making balloon animals. Moms was the best!!

Then it was time for Pin the Tail on the Donkey!!
Brittany was the winner!!

Then came presents and yummy birthday cake!!

If that wasn't enough, we also went miniature golfing!!
Shaida had the most fun by getting a hole in one!!

July 5, 2009

We were off to Lava Hot Springs and going tubing down the river!

We rented the tubes and were ready to go with me there to document it all!

The had a blast! Shireen was so happy to actually get to do it this year. Last year, she was sick
and didn't get to have much fun!

Grandma had fun too visiting with Aunt Sharon.

July 20, 2009

We are back to Colorado Springs for the camp!
Shireen and Sydney really miss their old coach Katia!

This year Shireen stayed in the dorms with the girls from the camp.
She was lucky and got a room that has it's own private bedroom for each girl.
She really had a fun time!

While Shireen had fun at camp, Sheila, Shaida, and I had fun
sightseeing Colorado Springs! We drove around with Denise (Sydney's mom)
finding really interesting things like this giant bug!!

This is Royal Gorge. It was beautiful and scary!!

Sheila and Shaida loved the little cowboy town on the other side of the Gorge!

The best thing they bought was this Frog Purse!!

We also visited Seven Falls!
We went at night and the falls were lit up with beautiful lights.

The fun part of these falls is the stairs that you can climb to the top of the falls.

Michelle joined Denise and I and Sheila and Shaida met a friend that was in Colorado Springs.
It was really a fun night!!

Everything was so great in Colorado Springs!
Shireen and all of us had a great time!!

We drove through Grand Junction on the way home and found a fun Dinosaur Museum!

The girls had a fun time together as we took the long drive home!

August 2009

The next month was a nightmare for the gymnastic team.
USA Gymnastic World was sold to a horrible family that didn't know
what great coaches they had!
They got rid of all their good gymnastic coaches
and ruined the hopes and dreams of all the girls (and boys) that were on the teams!

Natasha and Yuriy luckily got a job in Denver and this was their
goodbye party. Shireen still misses her coaches!

Shireen and her friends are now part of Olympus Gymnastics!
The girls on the team welcomed them in and they are all now GREAT friends!!

September 2009

Ahmad went on a great trip with his brother Massoud and family.
School was starting so the girls and I couldn't go but Ahmad
had lots of fun in New Jersey!

They visited New York (I was very jealous!!)

They also drove up to Niagra Falls which looks beautiful!!

October 2009

We had a quick weekend in Las Vegas with our new Gymnastics team.
We loved staying at the Embassy Suites with the two Swans.
They kept the girls really entertained!

It was fun bonding with the new teammates (and their mothers!!)

October 2009

The very next weekend we were off to Disneyland!
We love watching the different new things at Halloween time!

We enjoy coloring pictures at crowded times!

The highlight was the Trick-or-Treat Party
in California Adventure!!

Shireen was Kuzco, Sheila was Kronk, and Shaida was Yzma (from Emperor's New Groove if you didn't know)
They had lots of fun on the rides. Shireen as Kuzco was really a hit!!

Shireen had a busy couple of weeks! At least she could rest
on the drive home!!

October 31, 2009

Halloween time and the girls are working hard on their pumpkins!

They really take their pumpkin carving seriously!!

Then off to Parties and Trick or Treating!

November 2009

It's Thanksgiving and I'm making my first full Thanksgiving meal.
We usually go to Grandma's (Mom's) house but she had surgery on her hand
and just couldn't do it this year!

I think my Turkey turned out pretty good!!

Mercy and her family joined Grandma and us for a nice feast!!

It was fun watching the girls play with their cousin Jahan!

December 2009

It was a Nightmare Before Christmas theme this year!

But we still added a fun touch to our kitchen with the Peanut's Christmas tree!

The girls had a great Christmas!!
